Alan Esser, Trustee
Alan was born in Cleveland, grew up in Parma, and graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland. He received a bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University, masters from the University of Arizona, and completed additional graduate study at CWRU majoring in Civil Engineering.
He served in the Air Force and was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson. His career in structural and geotechnical engineering started with the Illuminating Company in Cleveland. For the last 25 years he has worked as a geotechnical consultant. He was a partner and co-owner of EDP Consultants in Kirtland prior to merging with Soil and Materials Engineers where he is currently a Vice President and is in charge of engineering for the company's Ohio offices. Al has served on various committees in professional organizations and is a Diplomate of the Academy of Geo-professionals.
Alan and his wife Sandy were west siders from childhood until they moved their family to Kirtland in 1988. While living on the west side Al served on boards of their homeowners associations. Since moving to Kirtland, he has served on various school committees and as an officer in the Music Boosters.
His introduction to Share A Vision came through the Willoughby Rotary Club where he and fellow board members Bill Giffin and Ron Boetger are members. Al's younger brother was afflicted with Cerebral Palsy, so Al has a personal perspective on what it is to live with a disability. He is excited to join the Board and share his professional experience and energies and help in any way he can.
